Mixtape: A deeper connection with Nicolai Rønde-Becker
A blend captivating through it’s limitations and native languages. Nicolai Rønde-Becker is a musician and songwriter in Danish language projects like Ondskyld and Kyrads, and introduces his RMC Mixtape like this: “The songs, or rather the mixtape, that I’ve put together for you is a reflection of some of my key inspirations – not just for writing the music of my project Ondskyld, but also for how I exist in the world. It’s about why I remain curious about creating music in the way I do. I’ve placed a lot of focus on what I’d call the more amateurish aspects of some of this music. Although I think the artists behind these tracks are incredibly talented and professional, there’s something captivating about the limitations in their abilities. Lately, I’ve been inspired by Swedish and Norwegian music in particular, especially within the realm of rock – though I use that term loosely. I’ve noticed I feel a deeper connection to life when I write in Danish, and I think that’s why I’m more moved by music written in someone’s native language. I could easily make a whole mixtape in English – but my current inspirations are heavily influenced by Swedish, Norwegian, and a bit of French music. Hope you will enjoy.” The intros by Nicolai during the mixtape are in Danish.
